Cockatiel Care
Cages
Your cage needs to be large enough for your cockatiel to freely flap its wings. A tell-tale sign of a small cage is that your tiel's wings beat against the cage walls as it flaps. There must be sufficient space for your cockatiel to ensure its safety! Remember to be responsible and clean the cage atleast twice a week. Cockatiels like to forage the ground and you wouldn't want them stepping on their own poop! It could also cause health problems for the bird if cage-cleanliness is not maintained.
Diet
Fresh water - Change the water daily!
Seeds and pellets
Fresh fruits and veggies
Don't give them:
Avacado, fruit seeds, alcohol, honey, onions, garlic, salt, mushrooms, high-sugar food.
Signs of a sick cockatiel
Birds tend to hide their symptoms really well hence it is difficult to notice until it is too late. Once you notice any of these symptoms, contact a vet immediately.
Symptoms:
Loss of appetite, teary eyes, droopy feathers, tail bobbing, loose droppings, difficulty in breathing, discharge or crusts around the nares.
